I attended the ‘Wheels of Life’ workshop run by Noel Posus and found the ‘Wheels’ tools interesting and far more expansive than I had expected. Noel has an engaging, authentic and inclusive way of making the material real. In fact as all the participants were coaches we had the opportunity to have a ‘mini’ coaching session where we used the ‘Wheel of Life’. This experiential approach made the teachings ‘stick’ which is vital as too often they disappear once you leave the class room.

I was inspired by Noel to actually make up a ‘Wheel of Sales’ which was very rewarding as it is a tool, I can use with my own clients and also a tool for others to use. Again we actually made up a ‘Wheel’ together in the workshop so Noel could demonstrate how and what to do.

I had always believed the Wheel of Life was a rather "pedestrian" tool until purchasing your version and learning a whole different way of using it. Listening to the recordings just confirmed this and gave me even more insights and ways of thinking about the Wheel. It's fun!

I have purchased 2 products from the Wheels of Life website, the Foundation Wheel and the Partner Within Wheel. The primary reason for purchasing the Foundation Wheel was to have some sort of framework to help me with coaching my children. I wanted to be able to coach them through (as opposed to just telling them) some of the 'living' principles that I have defined as important in our lives. The Foundation Wheel gave me the framework and insight to not only assist with coaching my children on the important values & principles that I was trying to instill in them but they themselves now refer to the 'Wheel' and we are 'together' creating other wheels to help us to become a more effective family. This Foundational tool is essential if you are trying define a number of different area's to coach on. The structure provides a simple format to help raise awareness in the coachee and then allows for more dicussion around the decisions the coachee is currently making and the different choices available to them.

The decision to purchase the Partner Within Wheel came from working with the Foundation Wheel. There were a number of personal challenges I was having that affected how well I was able to implement some of the actions that came from our family discussions. It was through developing a Partner Within Wheel for myself, highlighting choices available to me that I was able to gain the self acceptance and confidence to better coach my children. A massive assitance for me as an in-experienced coach and will certainly grow as my Wheels of Life resource library grows.

Thanks for your thoughts and the inspiration of the holiday wheel - the wheels of life are sop adaptable. I have been using them in groups in a public mental health unit with satisfying success. The patients/clients have found this to be a non-threatening exploration of themselves, their valus and circumstances and/or behaviours resulting in their current admission.

As I read the suggested catagories for the Holiday Wheel I was reminded of the interview on Catalyst last Sunday with Peter Singer on "how to live a good life". Peter's opinions and hopes were thought provoking and challenging, encouraging us to have those conversations which encourage self reflection.
